What It Is

A Component is a group of entities with exported parameters. It is the central organizational building block in SiteCAD — the only element type that can contain children. Components let you bundle solids, traces, boundaries, and other elements into a single logical unit with a clean parameter interface.

Components can be saved as reusable templates and placed as linked instances throughout your project. Change the template once and every instance updates automatically. Expose key dimensions and settings as parameters so each instance can be adjusted without breaking the link to the original design.

Key Capabilities

Hierarchical Grouping

Nest entities together into meaningful assemblies

Exported Parameters

Expose dimensions and settings for external control

Templating

Save as reusable templates in your project library

Instancing

Place multiple copies that stay linked to the original

Child Entity Support

Add solids, traces, boundaries, and more as children

Propagation

Changes to a template automatically update all instances

Use Cases

HomesteadersPackage a chicken coop design with adjustable dimensions
Civil EngineersTemplate retaining wall sections for reuse along a slope
FarmersCreate repeatable planting bed layouts with spacing parameters
DevelopersStandardize lot infrastructure packages across subdivisions
