Reuse designs without duplication

What It Is

An Instance is a reference to a component or solid prototype. Rather than copying geometry, an instance points back to the original design so that changes to the prototype propagate automatically to every placement. Each instance carries its own position, rotation, and scale, letting you arrange repeated elements across your site without maintaining separate copies.

Instances can also override individual parameters exposed by the prototype, so each placement can vary in size, material, or configuration while still inheriting the base shape. Because only the differences are stored, projects stay lightweight even with hundreds of repeated elements. An instance cannot be a root entity — it always lives within a component.

Key Capabilities

Prototype Linkage

Each instance references a component or solid, staying synchronized with the original

Parameter Overrides

Adjust dimensions and settings per-instance without affecting the prototype

Independent Placement

Each instance has its own position, rotation, and scale on the terrain

Automatic Updates

Modify the prototype and all instances reflect the change instantly

Efficient Storage

Only differences from the prototype are stored, keeping projects lightweight

Scale Variation

Place the same design at different sizes across your site

Use Cases

HomesteadersPlace the same raised bed design across a garden with different sizes
Site PlannersRepeat a fence post assembly at regular intervals along a boundary
FarmersInstance a water tank design at multiple locations with varying capacities
DevelopersStamp standard utility hookup packages across subdivision lots
