What It Is

A Mesh is a 3D tileset or mesh asset that streams massive real-world datasets into your project. Meshes can originate from Cesium Ion, a URL pointing to hosted 3D Tiles, or local files loaded via the directory picker. Because they carry their own georeferenced coordinates, meshes place themselves on the globe automatically.

Meshes cannot be instanced — each one represents a unique, large-scale dataset such as a photogrammetry scan, a city building model, or a high-resolution terrain overlay. They can serve as root entities in a project, providing the real-world context that other elements are designed around.

Key Capabilities

Cesium Ion Integration

Stream 3D Tiles from Cesium Ion for global terrain and building data

Local File Loading

Import 3D Tiles directly from your computer via directory picker

URL Sources

Reference tilesets hosted anywhere on the web

Terrain Overlays

Layer high-resolution terrain and imagery over the global base

City-Scale Models

Visualize photogrammetry scans and building models in context

Georeferenced Placement

Meshes position themselves using their built-in coordinates

Use Cases

SurveyorsOverlay drone photogrammetry scans on the globe for site context
DevelopersImport city building models to visualize new construction in context
FarmersLoad high-resolution terrain for precise drainage and grading analysis
HomesteadersBring in LiDAR scans of wooded lots to plan around existing trees

Try Meshes

Open the editor to load 3D tilesets from Cesium Ion, local files, or URLs, and see real-world mesh data on your terrain.
