What It Is

A Solid is a parametric CAD primitive defined with JavaScript code using the replicad library, which is built on the OpenCascade geometry kernel. You write a short script that describes the shape, and SiteCAD compiles it into a precise 3D body that can be placed on real terrain. Solids can serve as root templates or be instanced throughout a project.

Each solid exposes adjustable parameters — width, height, radius, or any custom dimension — complete with units, value ranges, and sensible defaults. When you change a parameter, the geometry regenerates instantly. Because the shape is code-driven, you can express complex relationships between dimensions, apply boolean operations, and produce forms that would be tedious to model by hand.

Key Capabilities

Code-Driven Geometry

Define shapes in JavaScript using the replicad library with full OpenCascade power

Adjustable Parameters

Expose width, height, radius, and custom dimensions with units and defaults

Boolean Operations

Combine, subtract, and intersect solids for complex shapes

Instanceable

Use as a prototype and place multiple copies with parameter variations

Terrain-Aware Placement

Position solids on real terrain with automatic ground clamping

Export Ready

Generate STEP, STL, and OBJ files for fabrication and 3D printing

Use Cases

HomesteadersModel water tanks, raised beds, and outbuildings with exact dimensions
EngineersDesign foundations, retaining walls, and utility structures parametrically
Industrial PlannersCreate equipment footprints with adjustable sizing for layout studies
FarmersModel grain bins, livestock shelters, and irrigation equipment
